National Day Celebrations
The SG50 celebrations were the most spoken topic during the last few months and the most expected event .So much of planning for months. So many events, free goodie bags to all the Citizens and the PRs, free transport to the public, free or discounted entry tickets to most of the places and most important was an extra holiday to celebrate all these.
It definitely opened with a gala celebration but never forgetting the history and the key people involved in this, celebrating the current and at the same time planning how the future should be.
I got lucky enough to witness the celebrations held at Marina, the float. We also had one in the morning at Punggol ,Riviera hard court where thousands came and enjoyed in the true spirit.
The Marina floating bay was as usual full by 4:30. Looked like a huge wave of red and white. The celebrations began with all the Emcees triggering off the national day spirit that was already in peak. Few warm ups and then the screen showed the Ministers and MPs arriving in the Padang. The most emotional moment was when there was an AV on the screen about the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew. People were in tears and couldn't stop from crying.
All the pioneers were given due respect on this 50th year of Independence.So many of them were a part of the parade which people stand up and give them a big salute for all their contributions.. Whatever be the place or occasion, which ever the country may be....The History should never be forgot. It teaches us a lot and the seeds were sown decades and decades back and we are reaping it now. Then came the Singapore Airlines. Also the jets which formed SG50 in the air. Then the fighter jets with their breath taking twists and turns in the air...the big salute to the Singapore flag by the jets. The colorful fireworks too happened as usual in a gala way lifting the spirits of the people. The different #NILAS..the different chapters, themes were all definitely a great lesson and entertainment.
Here are few pics from the Marina Bay that were taken by my Note3 ... Red and White everywhere...People flocked gathered without bothering the soaring temperatures. Every place was fully occupied from the helix bridge to the marina float and the entire board walk and the Padang where all the major events happened with all the Ministers, MPs were present with the Mr.PM, Mr.President.
